Why Boiler Servicing is Important

Having your boiler serviced is an important part of home maintenance. It’s essentially an MOT for your boiler and will help keep you and your family safe and avoid costly repairs later.

There are 5 main reasons why you should have your boiler serviced annually:

1. Safety

Old, badly looked after gas appliances such as boilers can produce carbon monoxide which is dangerous. Carbon monoxide is an odourless gas which isn’t usually detected unless you have a CO monitor installed. An annual inspection checks all the seals on appliances to ensure they are in good order.

2. Prolong the life of the boiler

Regular servicing can help avoid costly repairs later but doesn’t always guarantee the longevity of the boiler. Problems such as small leaks can be picked up and dealt with sooner preventing long term damage to components.

3. Validate guarantee

If your boiler is still within its guarantee period, it will usually need to be serviced as part of the manufacturer’s terms and conditions.

4. Save money

An inefficient boiler can cost you more money to run: a well looked after boiler will run more efficiently and reduce your carbon footprint and save you money.

5. Legal requirement

If you are a landlord, it is a legal requirement to have a Gas Safety Inspection for the property every year.
